The holiday will be held in accordance with the plan of events for the preparation and celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War “Ұлы Жеңіс: Erlікке тағзым, ұрпақққа үлгі”, approved by the government decree.
May 6 in Astana will begin a festive concert, timed to the 80th anniversary of Victory and Defender of the Fatherland Day. Solemn events and concerts are also planned in megacities and regions on May 6-7.
On May 7, a military parade will be held in the capital. Also on this day the passage of troops in garrisons is planned.
As part of the festivities, there will be a display of weapons and military equipment, military-historical reconstructions and the action “Soldier's porridge” in the squares of regional centers, as well as in Astana, Almaty and Shymkent during the period from May 5 to 9.
From May 6 to 9 scheduled ceremonies to honor war veterans and home front workers: awarding the title “Halyk kaharmany” and awarding the jubilee medal “1941-1945 zh. Ұлы Otan соғысындағы Жеңіске 80 жыл” - ‘80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945’ (pictured below).
On May 9, Kazakhstanis will take part in ceremonies of laying wreaths and flowers to the monuments of the defenders of the Fatherland, including the monument “Otan korgaushylar” in Astana with the participation of the country's leadership. On this day in all major cities and regions of Kazakhstan will also be held festive fireworks.
Also on May 9, the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan will participate in the Victory Parade in Moscow.
